Hitchcock cameo - Secret Agent

Until recently, there was a statement on Wikipedia that Hitchcock had a cameo appearance in "Secret Agent":
Alfred Hitchcock cameo: A signature occurrence in almost all of Hitchcock's films, he can be seen coming down the ship's gangway in front of Ashenden, at about 8 minutes into the film.
The Wikipedia edit appears to be based on a statement made on this page at the IMDB.
Unfortunately, whoever the man with the mustache is (and it does look a little like Francis de Wolff), it certainly isn't Alfred Hitchcock:
