[edit] Introduction

"The Alfred Hitchcock Hour" began in September 1962, continuing the format of the successful "Alfred Hitchcock Presents", but with the length of each episode doubled to 60 minutes.

Although Alfred Hitchcock only directed a single episode -- "I Saw the Whole Thing" broadcast on 11/Oct/1962 -- out of the entire run of 93 episodes, he continued to provide the bookend segments.
