MR. HITCHCOCK AGAIN

"FROM AMONGST THE DEAD"

Mr. Alfred Hitchcock, whose last film to be seen here was To Catch a Thief, is now to direct From Amongst the Dead, a film version of D'entre les Morts, the French bestseller by MM. Pierre Boileau and Thomas Narcejac. To an acknowledged master of suspense his new subject would seem to offer excellent opportunities.

The exciting story tells of a former police inspector who is asked by a friend to shadow his wife. According to the friend, his wife is a neurotic with suicidal tendencies and is in urgent need of care and protection; incidentally she has a strong belief in incarnation. Having undertaken the job, the ex-policeman meets the wife and falls in love with her. The story then develops a number of surprises and becomes, it is said, more and more nerve-racking.

British cinemagoers have yet to see two other recent films by Mr. Hitchcock, a new version of what is perhaps his most famous film, The Man Who Knew Too Much, with Mr. James Stewart and Miss Doris Day. and The Trouble with Harry.
