Damages over Hitchcock film

Paris, March 14. Mr. Alfred Hitchcock, the film director, has been ordered to pay 150,000 francs (£12,500) damages to a French playwright for using Frenzy as the title of his latest film.

The playwright, M. Charles de Peyret-Chappuis, maintained in court that audiences would confuse the film with his play Frénésie. The court also ordered that Mr. Hitchcock and his producer must not use the word Frénésie in publicity.
