MR VICTOR PEERS
Mr Victor Peers, CBE, a former general manager and member of the board of Granada Television has died at the age of 74.
He joined Gaumont-British in 1932 and was production manager for such films as Rome Express, The Good Companions, King Solomon's Mines, and the Jessie Matthews musicals. In 1946 he joined Sidney Bernstein and Alfred Hitchcock in the new Transatlantic Pictures Corporation, which produced Rope, with James Stewart, I Confess, with Montgomery Clift, and Under Capricorn, with Ingrid Bergman. In 1954 he became general manager of Granada Television. He later became a director of Independent Television News.
