Across the Footlights
Close by the large new film studios of British International Pictures at Elstree, Hertfordshire, where Messrs. Sidney Chaplin, A.E. Dupont, Alfred Hitchcock, and Graham Cutts are turning out new British films, another great building, twice the size of the first, is to arise. This was announced recently by Mr. John Maxwell, chairman of British International Pictures, who explained that the new studios are to be erected for renting to other British film producers. He said:- "It is far cheaper to produce six pictures on the same spot than to make six pictures in six different places. Those who utilise them will be able to make pictures without capital outlay in studio building, and the concentration of many producers on one spot will greatly reduce overhead charges."
