Gaumont British Decision: Production to Cease at Noted Studios
When their present film, "Non-Stop New York," starring Anna Lee, is finished in a few weeks, Gaumont-British will cease production at their Shepherd's Bush studios, states the Central News.
It is understood that this decision was arrived at at a meeting of the directors yesterday, though at the close of the meeting it was decided to issue no statement.
The stars and directors at present under contract will work out their contracts at the Pi he wood Studios, Iver, Bucks, and the subsidiary company, Gainsborough Pictures, will continue to produce films at the smaller Islington studios.
The Shepherd's Bush contracts, valued at £100,000, include those with Jessie Matthews, Anna Lee, Nova Pilbeam, Lilli Palmer, Oscar Homolka, and Desmond Tester.
Directors under contract are Alfred Hitchcock, Sonnie Hale, Robert Stevenson, and Herbert Mason.
